Terms of Service

Last updated: July 16, 2026

1. Introduction

Prept ("we," "our," or "us") is a tutoring and mentorship platform that connects students with qualified teachers for medical education. These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of our platform, including our website and services. By using Prept, you agree to these terms.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, booking a lesson, or otherwise using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy . If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use our services.

3. Use of the Service

Prept provides a marketplace where students can find and book lessons with teachers. Teachers offer tutoring, advising, and mentorship in medical education. You agree to use the service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms.

3.1 Students

As a student, you may search for teachers, book lessons, and communicate with teachers through the platform. You are responsible for providing accurate information and for your conduct during lessons.

3.2 Teachers

As a teacher, you may create a profile, set availability, and offer lessons to students. You are responsible for the accuracy of your profile, your qualifications, and the quality of the services you provide.

4. Accounts and Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Prept. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when registering and keep your profile up to date.

5. Bookings, Payments, and Cancellations

Payments for lessons are processed through Stripe. By booking a lesson, you agree to pay the stated price, including any platform fees. Teachers receive payment through Stripe Connect according to our payment terms.

Teacher advance booking settings

Each teacher sets calendar preferences that control how far in advance students may book (minimum and maximum lead time, and whether same-day booking is allowed). These settings are shown when you confirm a booking with that teacher and apply to new bookings and rescheduled times.

Rescheduling

Rescheduling uses a negotiate-then-accept flow: one party proposes a new time and the teacher must accept before the lesson moves. Opening a reschedule (requesting a new time) is allowed until the teacher's minimum advance booking period before the scheduled lesson start. Any proposed new time must also satisfy that teacher's advance booking rules. If a teacher has already requested a reschedule, the student may complete the flow even inside that window.

Cancellations and refunds

You may cancel a future lesson before it starts. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel:

  • Student cancel 24+ hours before start: full refund of payment and applicable booking credits.
  • Student cancel less than 24 hours before start: partial refund (typically about half of the payment returned to you; the remainder may go to the teacher per platform policy).
  • Teacher cancel: full refund to the student.

You are responsible for attending scheduled lessons or cancelling in accordance with these policies. Repeated no-shows or abuse of cancellation may result in account restrictions.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You may not:

  • Use the platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Circumvent or attempt to circumvent payment through the platform
  • Scrape, copy, or misuse platform data or content
  • Interfere with the operation or security of the platform

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Intellectual Property

Prept and its content, features, and functionality (including but not limited to software, design, text, and graphics) are owned by Prept or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent. Teachers retain ownership of their own materials; by posting content on the platform, you grant Prept a license to use and display that content in connection with the service.

8. Disclaimers

Prept is an educational tutoring and mentorship platform. Content and advice provided by teachers are for educational and informational purposes only. They do not constitute medical, legal, or other professional advice. We do not guarantee specific outcomes (e.g., exam results or admissions). Use of the platform is at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prept and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claims arising from these terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Prept in the twelve months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the platform at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may close your account at any time through your account settings. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately; provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers and limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the platform after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. You are advised to review these terms periodically.
